Frequently asked questions

How does Laser Tattoo Removal work?

A tattoo is a permanent placement of ink into the skin. The body's immune system can't remove these tattoo ink particles itself, as these particles are too large. Laser light of a specific wavelength is passed through the skin, where it can break up the tattoo ink into smaller particles. The immune system can remove these from the body much more easily. Gradually the tattoo will fade over time. You will see the tattoo start to break down more and more as your treatment progresses.

How long does the treatment take?

Initial Consultation and patch test takes 30 to 45 minutes and a typical treatment will take around 15 to 20 minutes. This depends on the tattoo size. Most regular tattoos require between eight and 14 sessions.

Does Laser Tattoo removal hurt?

You will feel this treatment. However, to make you as comfortable as possible, at Laserway Clinic we use a cyro5 Cooling System for your comfort. The ribs, ankles and shoulder blades are more sensitive than other parts of the body. The discomfort can decrease as the tattoo fades. Most people cope well with the discomfort, but for patients with a low pain threshold can use a numbing cream prior to treatment if required.

How much does the treatment cost?

Prices vary according to the size, colour and complexity of the tattoo to be removed. Price starts at £40. Average small to medium sized tattoo is £60. We offer free consultation and patch test. Quote will be given at consultation when we access the tattoo..
