  Pigmentation treatment

Pigmentation marks are a build up of melanocytes (cells containing melanin) under the skin.

Pigmentation can be caused by being heredity, hormonal, stressed, photo-sensitive, on medication, over-exposed to the sun or simply as a part of the aging process.

With IPL (Intense pulse light) we can treat sun damage that causes sun spots, thread veins and pigmentation. We will rejuvenate the skin by evening the skin tone, texture and increase collagen and elastin which will reveal younger freasher looking skin!

How does the laser work?
We use an FDA approved Intense pulse light which breaks down the build up of these melanocytes. The light emitted from the laser is attracted to the melanin in the cells. These cells heat up and are destroyed.

What is the procedure?
The skin is cleansed. A cold gel is applied to the area. The hand-held device is placed on the area and a shot pulse of light is released. This is repeated in the neighbouring area until the entire pigmented area is treated. The gel is removed and the skin is cooled down.

Can I be treated?
The ideal candidate has pale skin. You must not expose the area to the sun 30 days prior to treatment or for the duration of the treatment.

How many treatments do I need?
4-6 treatments are recommended every 4 weeks. Maintenance treatments can be performed if necessary.

Does it hurt?
Everyone describes the treatment differently. You will feel a heat sensation on the area but only for a spilt second.

Are there any special precautions before and after treatment?
The most important factor to remember is to avoid sun exposure one month before treatment, one month after your last treatment and for the duration of your treatments in between. It is recommended to use a sun protection factor 30.

How much does it cost?
Depending on area size and which laser we use price can vary from £60 -£90. Gentlemax pro can also treat Pigmentation. Chest and other body areas available upon request

What results should I expect?
Redness and a slight warming sensation are normal after the treatment. The skin will be cooled after the treatment to ease these symptoms. You may see a darkening of the pigmented areas a few days after the treatment. This again is normal. They will disappear leading to a more even skin tone.
